How do corporate foundations contribute to the SDGs?
In a new scientific article – published in the Special Issue «Partnerships for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)» in the journal «Sustainability» – Theresa Gehringer, research assistant at the CEPS, investigates how charitable corporate foundations (CFs) contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She also takes a look how the SDGs are integrated into the organizational processes of these foundations.
Based on survey data from managing directors in Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany, the study shows that corporate foundations can effectively contribute to the SDGs not only as financial intermediaries but also as partnership brokers. The specific characteristics of CFs and their unique position between the private sector and civil society provide them with opportunities that have not yet been fully exploited.
