New Podcast Episode on Bridging Research and Practice in Philanthropy
In the latest episode of the Philanthropisms podcast, Dominik Meier discusses his recent paper “Compassion for All: Real-World Online Donations Contradict Compassion Fade.” Starting at minute 34, he explores whether people truly donate more to individuals than to groups – and whether the so-called compassion fade effect can be reversed using data from GoFundMe.
He also offers fascinating insights into innovative methodological approaches such as web scraping, machine learning, and natural language processing, which open up new perspectives for empirical philanthropy research.
This episode was produced in collaboration with the European Research Network on Philanthropy (ERNOP) and features academics conducting practice-oriented research.
