Philanthropie Aktuell 04/2019: Management Challenges in NPOs

Nonprofit organizations (NPOs) are operating in an increasingly complex environment and are under are experiencing substantial pressure to deliver their services more efficiently and effectively. NPO management is therefore becoming ever more challenging.

In the lead article, Sophie Hersberger and Sara Stühlinger shed light on (new) management challenges that NPOs have to deal with. They rely on the results of a survey of around 600 nonprofit organizations in Switzerland, which they conducted as part of their dissertation projects. It becomes evident that the increasingly complex stakeholder environment presents one of the major challenges that organizations must deal with. In the interview on page 3, Jonas Staub, managing director of Blindspot, tells us how his organization deals with this and other challenges in its everyday operations.
