Philanthropie Aktuell September 2020 – Volunteering for others

[Translate to English:] Farbige Hände auf braunem Hintergrund

The voluntary commitment of the Swiss population remains high, as the recently published fourth edition of the Swiss Volunteering Surveys shows. At the same time, volunteers are by no means all the same – some are formal volunteers, others informal, some volunteer regularly and long term, and some volunteer sporadically or even just once.

In the third issue 2020 of Philanthropie Aktuell, we report on various research projects, each dealing with different types of volunteering. In the lead article Georg von Schnurbein and Nicholas Arnold present results from two projects – one on formal and one on informal volunteering. It becomes clear that volunteers often make the small but essential difference, and that spontaneous assignments can serve as a springboard for people to become formally involved in longer-term volunteer work. Article 2 and the interview with Lukas Niederberger, managing director of the Swiss Society for the Common Good, also focus on the topic of volunteering.

The topic of impact investments is also highly topical. On page 4 you can read more about our latest publication, the manual: «Mit Wirkung anlegen». In the manual, the CEPS and Alternative Bank Schweiz show how foundations can systematically and successfully address the topic of impact investments.

We wish you a pleasant read – in good health!
