Bearing the title «Doing Better, More Efficiently: Measuring and Enhancing Philanthropic Vitality», a study on the vitality of the philanthropic sector in the Lake Geneva region (cantons of Geneva and Vaud) was published on Friday, 27 September 2019. The CEPS contributed to the study by providing its own data on the foundation sector.

Based on an analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, the study describes philanthropic vitality in the Lake Geneva region using 22 «vitality indicators». It concludes, among other things, that there is a high level of public confidence in the philanthropic sector in the region and a tax system that encourages donations. In addition, the study shows which measures could further strengthen the philanthropic sector in the region.

The steering committee for the project consists of representatives of the Fondation Lombard Odier, SwissFoundations, proFonds, the Centre for Philanthropy of the University of Geneva, the Center for Philanthropy Studies of the University of Basel, FSG and the Direction générale du développement économique, de la recherche et de l'innovation (DG DERI) of the Canton of Geneva.
